SYNOPSIS: She'll risk everything for her own Christmas miracle...
Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list--dealing with Madi's temporary dog sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.
Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi--how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple--he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide twenty-four-hour care. But there's nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.
Ethan's kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all--letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?

REVIEW: A big thank you to TLC Book Tours and HQN Books for including me in this book tour and sending me a free copy of MOONLIGHT OVER MANHATTAN in exchange for an honest review!
I had never read a Sarah Morgan book before, so this is proof positive that, even though this is one of those books in a chick-lit series, they don't need to be read in order! This book may be listed as book #6 but each one features a different couple, and the one previous to this featured the sister of Harriet (Moonlight's heroine). So you can see how they build and link each book but this one was enjoyable all on it's own!
Okay, so now I can get on to the review proper. MOONLIGHT OVER MANHATTAN was a very sweet holiday romance! I really liked it and spent a great few days reading it. The best way I can sum it up is, if you're a fan of Hallmark or Lifetime movies, then you'll love this book. I could probably brush my hands and leave you with just that, because it really does say a lot towards the cute and sweet and perfectly perfect coincidences that make up this romance, but I suppose I should go into more detail, since I'm a book reviewer and all (chuckles to myself like the crazy book lady I am).
Strong opening. I loved it. The author throws us right into meeting our heroine right in the middle of hilarious hijinks. Then we segue into the first meet-cute...because this book actually has TWO meet-cutes and it's an embarrassment of riches. Handsome, and run off his feet and heart, ER doctor Ethan is the perfect chick-lit man of romance. Paired together, I really liked this couple and the journey they took to happily-ever after (oh come on! That's not really a spoiler right? I mean, this is a sweet holiday romance book, you should know it's coming).
And since I'm a huge dog lover, the fact that Harriet runs a dog walking business pulled me right in! Give me dogs, all the dogs (I obviously need to take a look at the other books in this series). Beyond her love for dogs, Harriet was such a beautifully compassionate person. Add that to the New York setting at Christmastime, which I love and dream about often (I've only been able to visit NYC during the holidays once) and this book felt like it was tailor-made for me (all the heart eyes). The setting and circumstances were perfect.
There were only a few nit-picky things (personal pet-peeves really so don't let that detour you) that kept this book from being amazing all-around. Small portions felt like they dragged and despite the sparkling surroundings, were a little lackluster. There were some repetitive inner musings but then other places felt like it needed a little expansion, such as the ending which was really abrupt.
Still, it was a very enjoyable holiday read, but not so over the top Christmas, that it can't be read year round. There are plenty of people that I would (and will) recommend this one too. And I'll definitely be looking into Sarah Morgan's other books. It's just the type of easy chick-lit books that I like to ready in between heavier tomes or on vacation. I'm excited to see what the previous books in this series hold.
